Help me, nerds - Windows "Lite"?
« on: May 22, 15, 16:14 »
Help me out here, guys.

Is there such a thing as Windows 7 lite? I have an older laptop that needs a new OS installed.
Can buy or download, as long as it's not too loaded with extra features.

Thanks a lot!
DAS. Expect nothing.

There's a windows 7 basic that was OEM on a lot of netbooks and such, but i dont know if you can actually buy it.

Dude, go find another forum. This thread proves how f---ing horrible this place is.

You should go with Windows 8.1

It's faster and less resource intensive so should run better on older laptops.

8.1 lets you boot right to desktop mode too so if you don't like the start screen you don't have to use it.

Don't address a thread to "Nerds".

It ends badly, like me suggesting that you could run a stable version of Ubuntu for free, while speeding up your computer and reduce the risk of malware and enjoying a beautiful and intuitive user interface.

If all you are doing is basic stuff like word processing, browsing the web, uploading images etc. Ubuntu can be set up in a couple hours on most platforms by anyone with light tech skills. I did it on my one and only work netbook a few years back cold turkey and it was great.
