Mk1 headlight switch
« on: Apr 18, 18, 04:54 »
I am switching my caddy dash from the earlier one with the pull out knob headlight switch to the one that has a toggle button.

The wires on the back are very different. Anyone have info on this swap?

Thanks in advance

What you're talking about is actually from late Westmoreland, or American, to late German style parts
The Westmoreland wiring is completely different than the German stuff, and arguably, a lot harder to work with, since it's all permanently tied into the fuse box

If you're so enclined, the best thing to do is remove the wiring harness and fuse box from a late cabriolet and swap everything over. But that includes wiring for the rest of the car, too, unless you want to start cutting and soldering the different wire harnesses together

If you want to just de-pin each switch and smush the parts together, it's kinda janky as far as I'm concerned, but you could do that too.
If you have a Bentley, it will tell you what pin goes where
