World of Warcraft movie loses director

At a special screening during Blizzcon, World of Warcraft Director Duncan Jones said the movie will include a variety of special effects, which he said were "Avatar as well as WOTLK Gold Lord of the Rings at the same simultaneously."World of Warcraft will release in theaters in 3D on the 11th of March 2016.

The World of Warcraft movie has been hit by an unintended setback. CraveOnline spoke to Spider-Man Director Sam Raimi at Comic-Con last week. The director announced that he is not working on the film that is inspired by Blizzard's massively-multiplayer online role-playing game because of his involvement in Oz: The Great and Powerful. Raimi has been announced as director of World of Warcraft film director.

"Actually they don't have me as a director of World of Warcraft anymore, because when I got the Oz job, they needed change to a new director." Raimi said. "They were required to make the game."There was no mention made of an alternative to Raimi as director of the World of Warcraft film director. As of press time Blizzard hasn't responded to P2Pah's request to comment.

The World of Warcraft movie was first announced in the year the year 2006. In 2006, Blizzard announced that their goal was to create "one of the most exciting films of all time." The year 2009 saw Raimi was officially hired as director, and in the following year, Saving Private Ryan scribe Robert Rodat was announced as the film's scriptwriter. In the year 2010, Raimi provided more information about the film, stating that he was working on a 40-page script that "needs some work."

"We're looking for the characters and through them we're locating the story...we're trying to make realistic characters that be a part of The World of Warcraft, as it were if you were part of the game within the game," he said at the time.The film of Sam Raimi, Oz: The Great and Powerful will be released in theaters in 2013, starring Mila Kunis (Black Swan, Family Guy), James Franco (Spider-Man, 127 Hours) as well as Michelle Williams (Dawson's Creek, Shutter Island) buy WOW WOTLK Classic Gold. It's a prequel to L. Frank Baum's The Wonderful Wizard of Oz and tells the story of how the legendary wizard came to Oz and became the country's leader.
