Let me take alook at it maybe on thursday at a meet or at Spring unsprung. Is it just 1 wheel or all 4?

Those are some nice looking wheels!

Since there seems to be a lot of wheel refinishing expertise in this thread, mind if I ask a quick question? I'm redoing some BBS Madras 2-piece wheels and just got them back from sandblasting. Would you guys recommend sanding them down with say a 400 grit before applying primer or just spray the primmer on the raw blast textured aluminium?

I'm 99.9% sure these are my old wheels. I should have never sold them :( glad they have made their way onto another vw.

Could be they were on a RED Audi TT before????...James you know him?>

I would give them a quick sand with 400-600 then Primer just from previous experience. What color you using>?

I'm painting them an OEM silver color. From the factory the barrels where a clear coated bare aluminum and the centers painted silver. With the rash I've had to fix I'm doing both the centers & barrels silver to cover up the fixes.

So I did a bit of prep for tomorrow nights painting session. The nutts are all being done in either black or silver....

To do this i took a peice of cardboard and drilled a bunch of holes. then put the nutts on the end of the old bolts so that no paint gets in the threads :toothy:

Rear barrels painted

Rear Rims are split and sent off to Greens to have the lips done as they were so pitted. In the meantime we painted the inner rear barrels black

I was totally digging this thread until I saw these 'Spike' bolts.  Then I threw up in my mouth a little bit.

One front wheel done
ONE wheel for the front is done-- waiting on the last 16 nutts to dry in paint the remaining 4 per wheel used during the polishing stage
.

Love the silver nutts on the black barrel . Pops like crazy,  to bad you won't ever see it
