Wedding Photographer: a rebranding.
« on: Jan 02, 14, 12:18 »
Iíve been shooting weddings for a number of years, and up until now Iíve always included them under the same domain as all my other photography work at phrozenphoto.com.  As time has progressed along with my own work in that area, Iíve begun focusing enough on weddings that the time had come to allocate my wedding and couples-based imagery onto its own website!

My reasons for doing this are many, but the primary reason being the ďmoodĒ that Iíve found most brides-to-be want to experience when searching for their wedding photographer.  I love all the types of photography that I do, but a prospective wedding client doesnít need to search through photos of metal bands and condos as they try and research their wedding shooter.

I took a lot of consideration into the rebranding of my wedding photography.  I wanted a name and logo that represented the type of images I love to produce.  I wanted something that represented a connection to nature, and a love for the outdoors.  After much thought, iterations, revamps, I am proud to announce for the first time, my new wedding photography business:

Pebble + Pine Photography.

Along with the new branding comes, of course, a brand new website, and facebook page!  The new website is very basic and clean.  I love the look of it, and I hope you and all my future clients will as well! Here is a screencap of the opening page when you visit the site:

Branding for my business cards will follow the same clean lines and design. Iíve opted to go without any images on my cards this time around, as I want the branding and logo to stand alone and create interest in checking out my work.  Card design will look as follows for front and back:

So thatís it!  If you're interested you can take a moment and check out my new website, and let me know what you think.  Open to feedback and such as I'll be tweaking over the next couple weeks.

Looks great Matt. My only suggestion is to use a cleaner font for the contact info on your business cards. The current one is difficult to read IMHO

Edit: how about using the font for your website headers? Then it'll remain consistent

^ good feedback, and was also something i was already considering as well.  I'd tried a few different fonts but hadn't come up with one i liked yet.  Definitely will try the website header font.

LOL.  Surveys have shown that brides choose the photographer in the majority of cases, so that was the idea, yep!

...but really, who of us needs a survey to know the bride gets what she wants on the wedding day.    :admire:

I really love your work.  The advent of things like facebook and other social networking sites really allows someone to easily research their wedding photographer so easily, so I think you've made a fantastic decision.

As the years go by and I see more and more fantastic wedding photography on social media, it makes me dislike my own wedding photos more and more all the time.  Got married in 2002... things were a lot different back then, which feels very weird to say.

Definitely.  Like I said, it was something I was considering already so to hear a couple other people point it out just confirmed it needed to be done.

Thanks man, appreciate the compliments.  And the wedding photo industry definitely has become a lot more creative in the last 10 years!  There are so many great photographers out there these days.  As someone pursuing the industry it's both invigorating and intimidating.  But just gotta keep at it!  I'm not as busy as I'd like to be yet, but I think this rebranding is a step in the right direction.

that business card is ridiculous hahaha. on a side note my girlfriend peeked at the screen and said "oooooohhh that's cute!", so needless to say the brand is a definite hit with women.

Finally got around to printing the new business cards. They got a last minute colour feature along the left side added. The back side is just the logo, as pictured in the proof image on page one of this thread. Pretty happy with how they turned out!

Not so much a "rebranding" anymore at this point, but figured I'd post up the latest addition to the new brand.  Custom Stamp.

Matt!  Well done!  I think the site and rebranding look great.

The one suggestion I may have is to limit the number of photos shown at one time on the landing page.

Stamp is made locally by jukeboxprint.com.  Was about $100 all-in.

Thanks.  I've actually been given that feedback by a few people and plan to cull it down to about 1/2 of what's on there once I'm past the rush of wedding season.  Just don't have the time to deal with it right now!

Since this seems to be my defacto location for writing about the continued ways I'm displaying my brand, might as well post up this!   We are doing our first bridal fair ever in January so I've been busy getting prepped for it.  Decided to make a rustic hand-made logo sign rather than getting one printed.  It's all about sticking with the brand/style, right?

Step 1:  Make thinger out of stained pallet boards:

Step 2: print giant logo for making template out of

Step 3: Cut it all out, pin it down with thumb tacks

Step 4: Trace around everything.  The "photography" in small text was a real bitch.

Step 5: Hand paint that shizz, carefully.

Step 6:  ????!?

Step 7: Profit.

The end.

Looks great, Matt.

Next time you want to do a stencil, let me know, I can just make it for you out of vinyl. Would have saved you about 13 steps. ;) - apply vinyl stencil, paint, remove vinyl stencil.

I love the aesthetic.

Ahhh, good to know!  I'm not sure painting using the stencil would've produced the fine lines I needed though, especially for the "photography" part.  The wood is pretty rough and uneven

I may have another job in mind that a stencil would be good for though!  I'll send you a message on facebook soon.
