I know there are some real estate photographers that are on these forums, any help is appreciated!

Just wondering if there is a perfect size and DPI for MLS/Realtor.ca? I noticed while viewing that some listing's have photos that are blurry and pixelated, while very few are clear ( they are still not perfect ).

I assume this is due to MLS resizing the photos as they are too large, and resizing pixelates the photos. The ones that are clear must be sized perfectly by the photographer.

Does anyone know the exact sizing and DPI?

Thanks!

it's probably because the realtor is a lazy sod and is using a cell phone.

It's probably their software.

Try saving for web? That has helped in some cases for me for other things.

I will try that next time and see what happens. I know that works for Facebook Pages as they resize the image if it is too big.

Sometimes with web you need to find out the exact size it will be as they may not have resizers operating.

2048px on the long edge should be sufficient.  DPI has no bearing on web images.  It could be 20, or 2000 DPI, if the image is 2048px all that will affect is whether the image is 10, or 1" long when you print it.

That's not true Ian. If the site can't handle the size of the photo efficiently while resizing it it will look like crap. The realtor's site the photos get up loaded and it takes that server up to 4 days to post them. This includes the waiting time for the photos to be approved.

What I'm saying is I could post two pictures here, both 2048px square, one at 10dpi and the other at 1000dpi, and the file size would be the same.
