OEM bluetooth in r32 help!
« on: Dec 17, 17, 15:08 »
Hey everyone,
First off - sorry if this is in the wrong forum.

Iím looking to add bluetooth to my r32 and retain VW oem radio. Iíve been thinking about trying to source a rns  510 but have no idea how to go about getting one and configuring install. My r32 doesnít have factory nav (if that makes a difference?)
Can you do this and still retain all steering wheel functions? Itís important to me to keep it looking factory and have all the regular steering wheel functionality.

Anyone interested in helping source/install? $$

I've done this on my mk5 Rabbit. As far as I remember you need either an RCD-510 or RNS-510, OEM bluetooth module which is located under the passengers seat (you may currently have a SiriusXM module sitting there but both the RCD and RNS have SiriusXM built in), a harness that goes from that box and up the the A pillar to the overhead console to a microphone (which also need) and behind the glove box to the radio harness. Everything should work with your steering wheel controls and you will need to do some VCDS coding to get it all to work. I got my RNS-510 from an auto wrecker, along with the bluetooth module, the harness & mic from ebay from a seller in Europe,

Thanks Tooly!

Does anyone know of any shops that have experience doing this sort of thing? I don't trust myself to do this...

I have an R32 with nav that has bluetooth.  The previous owner bough the unit (OEM euro nav) off ebay and put it in.  Supposedly it wasnt difficult, I will try to ask who he had do it for him
