Dumb question about mk5 Jettas
« on: Feb 16, 19, 13:16 »
Hi guys, I am trying to get back into VWs and am looking at a mk5.

Is there a 2.0t Jetta that is not a gli? If so, what is the difference?

Thanks for the help!

Google is your friend:

Fuel Stratified Injection
The latest development of this engine range. An all new cylinder head was needed for the Audi-developed Fuel Stratified Injection (FSI), which features cylinder-direct fuel injection straight into the combustion chambers. The result of needing to site both spark plug and fuel injector meant that the former five-valve layout had to be changed to a four-valve-per-cylinder arrangement. Like previous engines, where the T appears, it stands for forced induction, usually by a turbocharger.

Yes there was a 2.0L Turbo Jetta.  It was basically the luxury version where the GLI was the sports version. The GLI was a GTI with a trunk with GTI wheels, GTI seats, blacked out trim with red accents.

The 2.0L T non GLI had chrome and nice multi-piece wheels and loaded with options. Very similar car to the GLI

Thanks for the clarification. Was there a difference in the suspension as well? It didn't feel the same as when I drove a GTI of a similar year but it might just be the difference in size.

I don’t recall but most likely the GLI had sportier shocks/springs

facebook.
kids now want to have the hellafrush looked with stretched tires that totally throw off speedo's and mileage tracking. They don't care about ride quality and fuel economy. - Vangruver
