Loose drivers mirror glass
« on: Sep 05, 17, 09:31 »
Has anyone had this problem on their mkiv? The drivers side mirror glass is loose and flops around while driving.

Is there a fix for it or does the whole mirror assembly need replacing?

Thank in advance!

I would pull the glass off and see what's broken

If it is similar to the mk5, the glass separates from the plastic backing. New glass is available for purchase for ~$20 a pair on amazon or eBay. Mine came off on the highway, and almost struck the vehicle behind me.

^ I pulled the mirror lens off the backing and spread a thin layer of gasket maker across both surfaces. Clamped under a heater and re-installed.

Heated mirror function still works and should holdup to the cold
