WTB: MK4 Black Golf TDI
« on: Mar 29, 19, 13:02 »
I'm looking to buy an MK4 Golf TDI for around $4-6k. Must be BLACK, running well, body in good condition. Please PM.
I don't know enough about the differences between ALH & BEW to have a preference. Whichever is cheaper on diesel and repairs is what I am looking for. Money is tight these days and my MK4 GTI 1.8T is killing my wallet.

Thanks

I am fine with either auto or manual. Honestly, I just can't afford gasoline prices these days. I have standard a MK4 GTI T and it is killing my wallet.

Price is $5k so it hits your budget. Add $1-$2k for a respray ?...

The difference between ALH and BEW if you are not tuning is negligible.

Same info from TDIClub forums:

ALH is a VE-type Bosch DFI system, EDC15.
BEW is a PD-type Bosch DFI system, EDC16.

ALH has 90hp.
BEW has 100hp.

ALH has 155tq.
BEW has 177tq.

ALH has a 01M (4 speed) auto option. (terrible auto transmission)
BEW has a Jatco 09A (5 speed) auto option.

ALH uses 505.00 oil.
BEW requires 505.01 oil. (don't mess it up because out of spec oil can/will damage the lifters and cam)

BEW has camshaft driven higher pressure injectors.
ALH uses an injection pump.

BEW has a sturdier crank and rods.
