So I have this mk2 16V gtx that's sitting, it is from what I know a CE2 car.
I also have this '98 Golf GL 2.0l ABA auto

Can I swap the electrical components from the '98 onto the '90 and have it run?  I want to try and get rid of the fuel distributor, other items as best I can in the car as I know they are prone to problems and running horribly.

Any links would be great, I tried searching but can't really fathom what to search as I want to retain the 9a engine/trans in the car

This is why I keep coming back to Dubberz...
I get called names, then get a link with 100 pages of information which may or may not answer my question....lol

You've been on the left coast too long if that upsets you, next you'll want a safe space and $20/hr for flipping burgers  . a2resource covers just about everything wiring wise. engine wiring plugs into the ce2 boxes, they're all sort of the same.

Sometimes I think you just sit up at night and think of the best ways to waste time working on VW related items that won't improve the car or make for something reliable.....just use time, resources and energy for no particular reason.

That's not meant as a dig, it's just more of an observation. :hi:

Well, OBD2 will improve the running, fuel economy, and diagnostic abilities of the vehicle. Plus CIS stuff is hard to find.

Splitting two motors apart to make a frankenstein setup just for the sake of EFI/tuning and reliability on a 2L 16v, rather than buying a 1.8T/VR? Well, that's when you know there's something wrong with you  :suspicious:

It's ok, not everyone understands the way my oh look a squirrel....what was I saying?  I'll do something....I don't know what yet.  Likely sell everything and start again for fun.

well the 9a car is hard to start and I have a complete ABA car for parts....figure it's only time if everything swaps across.  but I'll likely not bother with any of it and just scap it all.

I have other ideas and things I come up with, most are better suited for discussion over proper pints.
