Project Daily. VR6 swap
« on: Jun 09, 09, 19:07 »
Its been a long time in the making. Been planning to do this for some time but other projects keep putting this on the back burner.
I've actually had the engine and most of the swap parts since  2005. Longer then I've had the actually car.

I was originally going to use my 120K VR6 but since then have pick up a few crate motors :toothy:. The latest one is a used one with under a 1000 KM on it and this is what im going to use in this car now.

Here are a few pics of the progress.

The car

Rebuilt VR6 not going in now

MK3 donor with fresh crate engine

A few pics of last Sundays work. Pulled the engine. tranny, wiring, fuel lines and tank.

Thanks to Darren, Dean and Bryce for the help

For now I have no plans on boosting it but you never know what might happen.

I do have some turbo parts kicking around though ;)

I think it CAN be pulled off, the examples I've seen def leave something to be desired though.  Would be pretty sweet.  On a golf with a jetta hood that is, a jetta wouldn't pull it off I don't think.

too much low for that oil pump set up. Cracked the pickup apart, motor couldn't get the oil it needed. Problem has been fixed (I hope) so now it's pay back time and help the guys who got me rolling. :)
