tire sizes not available in N/A
« on: December 31, 2007, 08:37:03 PM »
i know a couple guys on this board are, or were, running some funky sizes that arent available here.

im looking for something lower profile than a 195/45r15. something like a 195/40 or a 185/40 would work...and no i dont want to run 165/45s. too narrow.

if its going to cost a rediculous amount i'd rather not do it, but i'm wondering if there are options as opposed to calling up a tire shop in germany and shipping a set of tires here  :wall:

Yup, 195/40/16s are easier to find. The original poster wants 195/40/_15_

You are a smart man, I got my coils from christian, I totally forgot about that.

You can actually get a few 195/40/16s in NA, conti has some, and toyo, but the dunlops run notoriously smaller and have a more curved sidewall design giving a bit more clearance. Toyos run a bit chunky, and contis are a little wider than the 205 falken 512s I have. I know it sounds weird, as a 195 should be a 195, but it never is. My wheels offset and my ride height mean every mm counts. Last summer I couldn't even fit one finger between my tire and my fender liner where it connects to the fender lip.

the 1 finger gap is between the fender liner and the tire. not the fender lip. I have negative finger gap between the lip and tire :P

tire trends sell two different brands of 145/45/15 im looking into how much they will give with the dubberz discount.  check out their website www.tiretrends.com the Kumho Ecsta's are $105 each without the dubberz discounts, and the tires previously stated i believe they said were $115 after the discount.  hope that helps

There are 165/45/15s available. I think they are a smart car size. Any vw other than a mk1 shouldn't run em though. They have a super low weight tolerance.
