taking apart a set of lm's. Do they require a sealant when put back together?

LMs are a 2 piece wheel, with the barrel being one piece.
No sealant is necessary.
Just make sure you use loc-tite on those bolts when you put em back together (reverse mounted I hope)

BBS RMs are a 2 piece wheel as well, but because the lip is one piece, and the face/barrel is the 2nd piece, it splits the barrel, and needs sealant.

What he said... You can also reverse mount the face to get a bit more dish ou of the barrel as well!

the bolts are too short, wont work on reverse mount

, took it to my brothers machine shop and they don't recommend machining the face, or mounting it on the inside. spacers it is.

Too short?
The distance that the bolts need to be sunk is exactly the same. Shouldn't need to do any machining. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

nope, didnt have enough thread. There was also some kind of sealant/glue behind the face. Ill post pics up tomorrow.

Reverse mounting LMs is pretty common practice from what I've seen.

Dont want to sound like a dick.... but you're simply mounting the face of the center on the other side of the barrel, not flipping the face 180 degrees around, right?

Send a letter to bbs for torque specs

called memory fab and they torque at 22-28 lbs..

after hours of reading stories about wheels failing/breaking Ive decided that it would not be a good idea to change the design that bbs spent countless hours perfecting/testing for safety and reliability. They will be sent in for refinishing and proper re-assembly. screw it

You aren't the first person to reverse mount LMs... or the the last for that matter.

Reverse mounted is the only way I would ever have LMs on a car.

There must have been some kind of background story for those that failed. There's really no reason for a wheel to fail unless there was some kind of mistake in reassembly, or previous damage to the wheel.
Either way, the wheels will look great.

Well I was afraid I wasnt going to get a response from bbs regarding proper torques but just received an email. here you go:

19 ft. lbs. with a drop of blue Loctite.
