G60 peeps, have you done this?
« on: Jan 17, 18, 07:21 »
So I've been reading this thread on "The Corrado Forum"
http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?14544-G60-owners-please-read-this

It's a discussion about changing your crank arm bolt before it snaps.

The suggestion is to replace the original bolt with these:
Non stretch bolt - N 040 106 4 (VAG)
Washer - 068 105 193 A (VAG)

It looks like the bolt recommended initially is for a DX engine - but now they are recommending the bolt for a PG (G60) engnine that is now uprated (10.9) and comes with the washer built in just like the original.

The DX hex bolt (6 sides) is non stretch.
The new PG double hex bolt is still stretch but an improved version.

I'm thinking which ever version we can get is better than what's in there.

So, have any of you had your's snap? have you replaced it as a preventative measure? I'll be replacing mine as the car has just over 230,000kms now.

Like to know opinions for this

I ended up getting the new improved version PG double hex bolt from VM and then had CMC in Poco swap it in. 10 minute job with the right tools.
