'78 Fox
« on: Dec 03, 11, 14:18 »
a couple people wanted to see this so iam gonna start a bit of a build thread here. picked this up in september to replace the caddy, its a 1978 Audi Fox, 4spd 1.6L
i plan to have it a bit more presentable for summer season which will include a set of widened RMs and air coilovers.

its a good start, the car is fairly clean and straight with a nearly perfect interior

Gorgeous!
That center console looks like a MK2 one: looks out of place compared to the dash.

Deadly!
I love it, a great score for sure. Looks like it's in great shape. I've seen one just like this parked up at CapilanoU.
Did you buy it on the north shore? It's gotta be the same one... there can't be two of these in Vancouver!

Mine was purchased on the island, not sure if it spent anytime in vancouver so i dont know if it is the one you saw or not.

I've found a set of Euro lights for it they are on route from europe right now, grille is being sourced as well.(will look the same as that black car in the vortex link above)

and i decided to spend my time on the paint work. this weekend stripped all the trim off the car and started sanding body panels. ive got some rust to fix on the inner fenders/rad support and a rear fender, maybe next weekend ill get to it. i want to have it ready to spray by time the weather gets over 10 degrees

I did test fit my 240GLT fuel dizzy to see how its gonna work. its gonna require a longer fuel line in to the dizzy and a custom intake but ive got some rabbit parts that should work. the motor is just about finished just waiting on a couple misc parts. but iam not in a rush to put the motor in yet, probably drive it all this year then do a swap in the fall

update! i bought coilovers and wheels/tires.

coilovers are from a mk1 VW, and the rears are a perfect match to the audi suspension, but the fronts will not work because the B1 front suspension/steering uses a steering damper instead of rack and pinion. the front strut housings are all one peice (knuckle attached to housing). i bought a pair of generic coilover sleeves that will be used for the front.

anyways got the rears installed today:

MK1 FK's next to the stock B1 rear shocks

installed. yes omg

the jack was stuck under the drivers side so this is actually how low it sits  :-/

the top adjuster is seized, i am not sure how to get it loose. but the car needs to be raised a lil
